The Lord blesses his people with peace."
In Psalm 29 the writer speaks of God as king over elements. That is, even nature itself must bow before the voice of God. He is indeed king over creation. This is an emphatic claim to the sovereignty of God. He is in charge. The gathered worshipping community, are called upon in the Psalm to celebrate that fact together, and cry in one voice; "glory." Glory be to God who is king over creation.
But the Psalm finishes with a wonderful reassurance that not only is this God that the people worship king over creation, not only does he enjoy absolute dominion, he also is the Lord that stoops down to them his people and gives them his strength. He is the Lord who rules and reigns and tells nature what to do but he also is the Lord and humbles himself to bless his creatures with his peace.
All this to say; if God is king and his dominion is absolute and he has an agenda to give strength, and to bless his people with peace, we have course to give thanks, we have course to be filled with hope. The God who is for us is greater than we imagine and he has an agenda to bless.
Grace and peace from Marcus.
