"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven" (Matthew 5:16)
What did Jesus mean when he said that we are to let our light shine before men? That question quite possibly has many answers but Isaiah said: "if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday". Perhaps what he means in part; is us simply seeing those who are broken and moving toward them in order that they might be made whole (now where have I heard that before).
I was greatly blessed by last weeks service, but I must say it has been challenging to say the very least to contemplate the dangerous implications of what was being said and yet there is something irresistible about the desire to let our light shine through good deeds that bless others and bring glory to our heavenly Father.
May the Spirit fan these things into flame all the more in our midst.
