Victory over the Enemy

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Last week I spoke about Jesus death, being a victory over the powers of darkness. This passage in Galatians unpacks that somewhat. Paul offers his standard blessing of grace and peace to the Galatians and of course to us. He understands that "getting grace" and understanding the peace that is ours in Jesus Christ is imperative to our overcoming; so he offers grace and peace. He then turns to unpack the roots of the grace and peace that is ours in Christ. In doing so he turns to the cross and the victory won there. Jesus gave himself and in so doing he rescued us from the powers of darkness, or the present evil age. All this happened according to the will of the Father to bring glory to the Father.

My prayer for each of you, is that you would know victory over the darkness. That you would drink of the deep well of grace, and live in the constant peace of Christ.

Grace and peace to you through Christ our Lord
