Spiritual Warfare - Part 2

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created : things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Last week I mentioned that Christians live in a world in which the powers of darkness are a reality and I encouraged Christians to stand firm. Stand firm in what? Stand firm in Christ. Paul wants Christians to be in no doubt whatsoever that despite the existence of a real and active demonic realm we have a Saviour in the Lord Jesus Christ who is indeed king over all, superior in every way imaginable. So we are to be strong in the strength that he gives. That is we are to rest in the victory of Christ, knowing that it does not matter what is stacked against us because He is for us. And if God is for us who can be against us? Surely nothing and no one of any lasting significance. So be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might.

Grace and peace from Marcus
