"All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith...... (1 Peter 5:5b-9)
What kind of people are we to be as those who belong to Jesus? Peter says we are to be a people who clothe ourselves with humility. Pride is out of place in the kingdom. What God wants is a humility that looks to him for strength. This is especially important because of our prowling enemy who wants to devour and destroy God's people. So Peter says; resist the lion & stand firm in Christ Jesus.
Heavenly Father,
Help us to be humble enough to lean on you for strength. Protect us from the evil one and teach us to be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might. Help us to be your people, set aside for your purposes full of the Spirit and firm in our faith.
In Jesus name Amen.
Grace and peace from Marcus
